In Perros-Guirec, Patrice Trameaux seems in his element. Since April and his arrival on the Pink Granite Coast, the adventurer has alternated pleasure on his sailboat and arpeggios on his keyboard. The man is a musician, composer, singer and teacher at the same time. A traveling artist with a slightly unique profile, who embraces both his career as a computer scientist and his troubadour side. Let's rewind.

“I’ve been teaching music for forty-five years,” he calculates. I started my first orchestra at 13, in Java. And it was me who taught the other musicians in the group how to play the drums, the bass or the guitar. »

Java? Would the neo-Perrosian be Indonesian? No way. “I was born in Val-de-Marne, then, in 1954, I followed my parents to Guinea. It was there that a Breton missionary father taught me music theory and the harmonium. »

Castle Guardian

The little boy grew up and followed his father's advice by continuing his studies, without giving free rein to his passion for music. Having become an engineer, he went to Nigeria where he worked three hundred and fifteen hours a month. “I played music on Saturday and Sunday evenings,” he remembers. Then, I returned to France... To immediately leave to tour the world! »

During this year-long journey, the young man saw flight attendants chipping in to give him a guitar during a stopover in Malaysia. And this is not the only anecdote that abounds in his career: “After my world tour, I became a castle guardian in the Lot. I was 32 years old. »

He quickly grew tired of this role and resumed his career as an engineer, working successively for INSEE, IBM and the National School of Bridges and Roads. “I set up an orchestra there where I taught music theory between noon and two,” recalls the artist. In 2000, I even composed a song which almost competed in Eurovision, title VIVRE »

Once retired, the musician will spend 4 1/2 months traveling 2,400 km on the way to Santiago de Compostela. Then, four years in the Basque Country before choosing Perros-Guirec as its new home port. “I have often visited Brittany and I feel good there,” he explains. Here, I only ask to share my passion for music by teaching or by making my studio at home available to musicians who want to record their songs. »

He composes and plays for two to three hours every day, watching films - with the sound off - to better invent the music.

Music theory in 1 hour.

From his travels, he remains with exotic influences and a planisphere pierced with pins. “A few Indonesian pieces, African rhythms, come to mind. Only titles full of sunshine, poetizes Patrice Trameaux. But it is in French variety that I am most comfortable: I find dozens of songs there that shake me. »

The teacher prides himself on being able to teach music theory to anyone in just one hour. His method just needs to be proven. But his story is clearly not for everyone...
